F 2009 Season

  •

  •   Measure for Measure by Shakespeare, April,
Our multi-media production frames dark and passionate Jacobean deeds in a contemporary context. Drama and comedy mingle as the enduring problems of separating justice from revenge, mercy from sentimentality, are explored.
The headlines: a fantastical Duke prowls the streets disguised as a friar! A hanging judge tries to seduce a nun in his chambers! And a wronged woman gets into the right bed! read review here
    Star of the Sea, Manly

  •   Arcadia by Tom Stoppard, July,
The play features a split time period, with scenes from a country manor in 1809 sharing the stage with scenes from the same house over 200 years later. Stoppard's brilliantly intricate dialogue covers such diverse themes as the limitations of Newtonian physics, modern Chaos theory, 19th century English literature, free will and determinism, love and lust, the nature of modern academic inquiry, and rice pudding with strawberry jam. Despite these hefty thematic concerns, the play moves quickly and lightly, with Stoppard's signature witty and lightning fast repartee.
    Star of the Sea

  •   Stockholm by Briony Lavery, January 2010 Star of the Sea, Manly
